A biceps injury and subsequent control problems marred his 2008 season and that was before it was learned that he needed shoulder surgery immediately following that campaign. Alan Horne pitched a combined 61 innings that following season over three minor league levels and admits now that he never felt himself in his first comeback bid. He attempted to rehab the injury earlier this year too when, right after Spring Training, he thought he might need rotator cuff surgery. But Dr. James Andrews suggested a series of PRP injections [Platelet Rich Plasma where they draw your own blood, centrifuge it down to the platelets and inject it into the injury to try to promote as much healing as possible], one shot bi-weekly over a six-week period, to see if that could heal him quicker.
