Polanco's stuff is better than the stats suggest

Don't let that 6.86 ERA fool you. Reynaldo Polanco had pitched well this season for the Gulf Coast League Yankees, the past few outings have just been a bit rough. The 18-year-old right hander accumulated 25 strikeouts to just four walks through the end of July, then things started to unravel. He's focusing on the positives though in his first GCL season.

Born May 20, 1993, Polanco is one of the youngest players on the GCL roster. He boasts a plus fastball and a big 12-6 curve. Although he's been inconsistent this season, he knows what he has to do to be successful. "I'm very happy to be [in Tampa]," Polanco said through a translator.
