Lyerly Got A Leg Up

Rob Lyerly had grown accustomed to hitting over .300 at the A-ball level the past two years, but struggled seemingly for the first time in his career when he got to Double-A. While he didn't put up the type of numbers he was used to, he did get his feet wet at the higher level and now that experience gives him a leg up for the 2012 season.

"It was a big adjustment but it's part of the job," Lyerly said. "I don't think I've played as well in Trenton as I would have liked to so hopefully I can come back next year and do better." He hit just .246 with 93 strikeouts in just 68 games with the Trenton Thunder this past season after hitting .315 in high-A Tampa and .312 with low-A Charleston before that. "He's definitely got...
