The Yankees signed then second baseman Abraham Almonte out of the Dominican Republic back in 2005. Missing most of the 2010 season after shoulder labrum surgery, the centerfielder got off to a rough start in 2011 but finally started showing some of his high-ceiling potential with a strong second half in the Florida State League.
