The Saguaros didn’t qualify for this year’s Arizona Fall League Championship Game after finishing second place in the AFL’s West Valley Division.

The following Rangers prospects saw action for Surprise this fall––RHP Ben Henry, LHP Jimmy Reyes, RHP Ryan Rodebaugh, RHP Ben Rowen, RHP Joe Van Meter, C Kellin Deglan, C/1B Brett Nicholas, INF Hanser Alberto, 1B Chris McGuiness, and INF Luis Sardinas.

Dominican Winter League

Gigantes del Cibao shortstop Leury Garcia raised his winterball batting average to .284 by going 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. Through 22 games, the speedy switch-hitting prospect is now 25-for-89 with five doubles, a triple, and two home runs. He’s drawn five walks and struck out 19 times.

Rangers prospects Leonys Martin (0/4), Jurickson Profar (0/4), and Engel Beltre (0/3) combined to go hitless in 11 at-bats for Licey on Friday. Beltre took the hat trick, whiffing in each of his three plate appearances.

After getting out to a hot start in the Dominican Republic, Martin is now just 6-for-40 (all singles) over his last 10 contests.

Rangers catcher Luis Martinez has joined the Estrellas de Oriente following his stint with the Colombian national team in last weekend’s World Baseball Classic Qualifier.

Martinez got the start behind the plate for the Estrellas on Friday and singled once in two at-bats.

Venezuelan Winter League

La Guaira lefty reliever Joe Ortiz faced three batters on Friday. He gave up a single, issued a walk, and recorded a strikeout. Ortiz didn’t permit any runs in his one-third of an inning appearance.

Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)

Although there was a full slate of Liga Paralela games scheduled on Friday, the league’s website has not posted the box scores.

No Rangers appeared in Mexico on Friday.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Janluis Castro grounded out while making a pinch-hit appearance for Caguas in the seventh inning. He remained in the game at second base for the final two innings.

Australian Baseball League

Brisbane Bandits centerfielder Hirotoshi Onaka went 0-for-3 on Friday but drew two walks.

Through his first seven games in Australia, Onaka is 9-for-26 (.346) with two doubles, five walks, and eight strikeouts. He’s stolen three bases in four tries.
