Jones Ready For The Lights

STATEN ISLAND, NY - With two seasons of the Gulf Coast League Yankees notched in his belt, Austin "Bubba" Jones feels "comfortable" bumping up a level in his professional career. For a second year, Jones failed to make a club right after Spring Training broke in late March, but being a veteran to an Extended Spring Training assignment he made sure the odds were stacked in his favor this time.

Drafted in the seventh round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Edmonds Woodway High School, he took advantage of the long and seemingly lonely journey in Extended, consisting of routines, structured workouts and a place where the hustle of his typical team members and coaches were absent.
