Torrens Expects To Be Better

On paper it wasn't the banner debut season many had hoped for with catcher Luis Torrens as he hit just .241 with one home run for Gulf Coast League Yankees2 last year. Still, he made remarkable strides defensively, so much so that 17-year old earned a spot with low-A Charleston this season and he says he expects to be better offensively going forward.

"I feel good," Torrens said through the help of a translator. "The things that we worked on last year are things we continue to work on now and I feel a lot more confident. I've been concentrating a lot more this year on my catching and hitting. Last year it was all just so new to me." He won't turn 18 years old until early May, essentially making him the same age as most high school...
