Mateo Working On His Approach

Mateo wants to be more controlled at the plate

Dominican shortstop Jorge Mateo had a tremendous season in the Dominican Summer League last year, hitting .287, posting an .828 OPS, and swiping 49 bases in just 64 games. He was easily one of the most electric players in camp this Spring Training too but he says he's working on refining his approach as Extended Spring Training gets ready to start on Monday.

He collected nine doubles, six triples, and seven home runs last year, and even walked a very respectable 34 times in the DSL.
