The Yankees have already played the Devil Rays four times this season, as many as any other team, and Kevin Brown has already defeated them twice, and soundly. The Yankee bats have been ominously silent so far this season, breaking five runs just once, but it seems more like the calm before the storm than anything to get worried about.
Let's face it folks, this game is just the prelude to the oncoming war. In the long run, will anyone care who won this game, when a four-game series with the Red Sox is literally right around the corner? Didn't think so.
Things to watch for: Who's playing center for the Yankees? Lofton's injured-ish, Bernie looked awful the other day, and everyone is now in love with Bubba Crosby. We here at PP fully support Crosby in his endeavor to earn more playing time... Can Brown win his third straight and get victory #200 on the first try?... Please watch Aubrey Huff's swing, it's just so smooth... Tino comes back to the Bronx, again...
Yankees Home Record: 2-2
Tampa Road Record: 0-0
Tuesday: Rained Out
Wednesday: Kevin Brown (2-0, 1.29) vs. Paul Abbott (0-1, 3.00)
Brown has been absolutely filthy so far this season. The Devil Rays aren't a poor-hitting team - despite their inability to work the count in most situations - and Brown has been feasting on them. Expect more of the same as Brown cruises to his 200th career win, just a few days after teammate Mike Mussina accomplished the same feat.
