Kennard Transferred to Tampa

Kennard is back in Tampa

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Jeff Kennard has been transferred back to the Tampa Yankees (A) of the Florida State League. LHP Charlie Manning will rejoin the Thunder from the Columbus Clippers (AAA) of the International League.

Kennard did not appear in a game for the Thunder. He has a 3-0 record with a 1.52 ERA for Tampa this season, along with one save. He was a 40th Round selection in the 2000 Draft out of Rend Lake Community College. Kennard has appeared in 22 games with Trenton over the prior three seasons with a 1-2 record.

Manning appeared in one game for Columbus. He gave up three hits and three unearned runs in one inning of work. He was promoted from Trenton to Columbus on May 24.

Manning is tied for the Eastern League lead in wins (5), despite being a relief pitcher. His overall numbers for the 2006 season are 5-0, 1 SV, 1.20 ERA. He earned wins in three straight outings (4/22- 30) and followed those up with 4 1/3 "perfect" innings of relief against Reading (5/2).

Manning was a 9th Round selection by the N.Y. Yankees in the 2001 Draft. He was traded by the Yankees to Cincinnati (7/31/03) for 3B Aaron Boone, but traded back to the Yankees (6/17/04) for LHP Gabe White. He has a 48-22 career record over six pro seasons.
