Kontos put on ten pounds in the offseason

What George Kontos did in Staten Island was pretty impressive, going 7-3 with a 2.64 ERA and morphing into the team's ace despite possessing just two main pitches. But even with having that kind of success, he didn't rest on his laurels in the offseason. He reported to camp in great shape and armed with another quality pitch in his arsenal.

"I've put on about ten pounds," said the seemingly chiseled George Kontos. "I lifted a lot in the offseason and did a lot of lower body and did some running to slim my upper body a little bit. Overall I'm coming in here strong and hopefully I'll stay strong."
