Pino Working On His Plate Discipline

Pino gave up switch-hitting last season

He has very good speed, swiping 56 bases over what equates to a full minor league season over the last three years. He also led his team in batting last season, hitting .326 for the Staten Island Yankees. While those traits would seem to spell leadoff man, Wilmer Pino is working on his plate discipline this year to be a more complete fit atop the lineup.

"I thought I did well last year," Wilmer Pino said of his 2006 season through the help of teammate Andres Perez translating. "I want to continue doing the same routines but I also want to have a better year this year."
