Smith Won't Get Down On Himself

Smith has done a complete 180 degree turn

Despite being among the Eastern League ERA leaders with a 2.97 in Trenton earlier this year, Brett Smith has faced a demotion to Tampa and now has to work his way up once again. The 24-year-old pitcher recognizes his mistakes and what it takes to get back on top. Although Smith was disappointed by being sent down, he is positive about his future.

"It was somewhat of a shock, I can't really say it was too big of a surprise," Brett Smith admitted. "I wasn't really pitching very much. We had six starters pretty much the whole year so it was a struggle to get innings. One thing I'm glad about being in Tampa is that I get to pitch every five days, and getting back on rhythm."
