A Growing Year For Nova

Nova's down year could be quite useful

He went just 6-8 with a 4.98 ERA for the Charleston Riverdogs in 2007. Opposing batters hit a robust .306 off of him and he struck out less than five batters per nine innings, but yet nobody is worried about Ivan Nova. Possessing some of the best stuff in the organization, he and his coaches are chalking up his first full season as a growing year.

"The numbers were better last year but I threw more innings this year, Ivan Nova said through the help of a translator. "This is the most I have thrown in a while. "I feel good about the season; I threw more innings than I did last year and I am happy with what I accomplished." While he was happy with his workload in 2007, he realizes his numbers could have been a whole lot better. But...
