A two-way player in college, Mike Dunn was drafted in the 33rd round of the 2004 MLB Draft as an outfielder and signed the following year as a draft-and-follow. Struggling with the bat with a .160 average in limited playing time in his first season and a half, the Yankees decided to move him to the mound in 2006 and he has quickly become one of the top left-handed pitchers in the organization.
