Coke Breaking Out The Breaking Ball

Phil Coke had two solid seasons in the Florida State League, posting a combined 3.36 ERA during that time to earn an opportunity in Double-A this season. After he got off to a rough start in the first month, however, the left-hander has picked it up in May, thanks in large part to the development of his breaking ball.

"It's not bad," Phil Coke said of his season so far. "I've had my struggles and my highs. I've had highs and lows, but like they say, they come with the game." The jump from A-ball to the Double-A level is one of the biggest in the game and Coke experienced that first-hand quite quickly in April, going winless in five starts and posting a 6.23 ERA.
