Barreda Working His Way Back
"I had an elbow injury," Manny Barreda explained. "There was something going on with my tendon, I wasn't sure what it was, but we went to see Dr. Andrews and he said I didn't need surgery, that my arm would be fine. "I went with Francisco Gil when he got his surgery done. He looked at the MRI. He said I didn't need surgery so I took something like eight weeks off from throwing and I gradually started my throwing program again." Experiencing some discomfort in his elbow back in Spring Training, Barreda wound up throwing roughly just five innings before being shut down and amassed just two more innings in Extended Spring Training, solidifying his fate to repeat last year's level.
