Barreda tossed four scoreless innings in last game

Diminutive right-hander Manny Barreda had one of the more impressive professional debut seasons last year for the Gulf Coast League Yankees, going a perfect 5-0 with a 3.00 ERA and more strikeouts than innings pitched. Picking up a slider and a changeup by season's end last year, a lot was expected from him heading into this season until an injury derailed his progress.

"I had an elbow injury," Manny Barreda explained. "There was something going on with my tendon, I wasn't sure what it was, but we went to see Dr. Andrews and he said I didn't need surgery, that my arm would be fine.
