The Yankees signed shortstop Jimmy Paredes for $80,000 out of Haina in the Dominican Republic as part of their 'July 2nd' signing group in 2006. As toolsy as they come, he has been transitioning himself over to third base and he was one of the better hitters in the Gulf Coast League this season even though he played injured and ultimately required torn labrum surgery by year's end.
