The Yankees drafted Brandon Laird in the 27th round of the 2007 MLB Draft out of Cypress College. The brother of Texas Rangers catcher Gerald Laird, he proved his terrific professional debut season of 2007 was no fluke by going out and leading the Yankees farm system in home runs and finishing one RBI behind the leader in 2008.
