| Giambi was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the second round of the 1992 amateur draft... Hit .256 with six homeruns in 54 games as a rookie in 1995... Won the AL MVP award by hitting .333 with 43 homeruns and 137 RBI in 2000 for Oakland... Finished second to Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki in the MVP voting in 2001 despite hitting .342 with 38 homeruns... Signed as a free agent with the Yankees on December 13, 2001 to a seven-year, $120 million deal. |
