| Signed as an amateur free agent by the Yankees in 1985... Debuted in 1991 with the Yankees, hitting .231 in 320 at bats... Became an everyday player in 1993, hitting .268 with 12 homeruns and starting in centerfield... From 1995 through 2002, Williams hit .300 or better, winning a batting title in 1998 with his .339 mark... Won four straight Gold Gloves in centerfield from 1997-2000... Won the 1996 ALCS MVP award for hitting .474 with two homeruns in 19 at bats against the Orioles... Owns the record for most postseason homeruns with 19... Ranks among the all-time Yankees in several categories, including runs, RBI, homeruns and walks. |
