Biography:
Signed by the Yankees as a free agent from the St. Louis Cardinals in December of 2003... Originally signed by the LA Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1990. In addition to LA and St. Louis, Cairo has pent time with Seattle, Toronto, Chicago (NL), Tampa Bay and Oakland... Was traded to Chicago from Oakland for Eric Hinske in 2001... Cairo isn't anyone's idea of an everyday player. He has no power to speak of and is something like a .260 hitter. He is best used in a bench or platoon situation as a team's backup second baseman.
