Biography:
Traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Yankees in December 2003, for RHP Jeff Weaver and minor league pitchers Yhency Brazoban and Brandon Weeden... Kevin was a chemical engineering major at Georgia Tech University, where he pitched three seasons and was named First Team All-America by The Sporting News in 1986 after setting single-season school records with 11 wins and 122 strikeouts. After walking on to the Yellow Jackets' baseball team as a freshman, left Tech with a school-record 28 victories and 249 strikeouts. He graduated from Wilkinson County High School in Irwinton, GA in 1983. One month after signing with the Dodgers, he donated $1 million to the Los Angeles chapter of the Reviving Baseball in Innercities program to establish the Kevin Brown RBI Academy of Excellence. Kevin also contributed $1,000 for each game he won in 2000 to the Covenant House California, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Jenesse Center, totalling $39,000. He was originally signed by Andy Hancock of Texas. He played twelve seasons with Texas, Baltimore, Florida and San Diego before joining the Dodgers in 1999.
