| The New York Yankees selected right handed pitcher Matt Brumit in the 44th round (1,323rd overall) of the 2002 Amateur Draft out of Youngstown State University. Brumit was a top performer at the university and was in all probability, the best pitcher on the staff. The Yankees have high hopes for this young pitcher and they have already tabbed him as a reliever and believe that he could be in their bullpen sometime down the road.
