Barreda Is Really Back

Manny Barreda was a very intriguing pitching prospect for the Yankees back when he was drafted in 2007, but Tommy John surgery the following year and an inordinate amount of time recovering from that injury the following two years nearly made him an afterthought. While his 2011 stats might not exactly show it, Barreda is back into those same original prospect discussions.

It might be tough to keep in mind but 2011, four years after being drafted out of high school in Arizona, was really Barreda's first full season of minor league baseball. Not only that, but the former starter was also transitioning to the bullpen for his first extended time as well. He posted a solid 4.50 ERA for the Charleston RiverDogs and struck out 82 batters in just 74 innings. And...
