Scouting Report

Scahill has been primarily a starting pitcher in the pros, but has worked out of the bullpen in Arizona. Whether it's his long term home or not remains to be seen but he's been dominant in the role nonetheless. Scahill has worked at 93-95 mph in the AFL and has done so with an easy, repeatable delivery. And, that's a big reason why he can still be a starter if he can maintain close to that type of velocity. He's spotting his fastball and getting some swings and misses as well.

Scahill has also been showing off a plus, sharp slider. And, that's pretty much all he's needed in terms of secondary pitches. He works at 86-88 mph with late, two plane action. It's been particularly effective as a back foot out pitch against left-handed hitters.
