STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Yankees' first overall pick of the 2013 MLB Draft, Eric Jagielo, got his feet wet in the Gulf Coast League before a quick promotion to Staten Island. The 21-year-old prospect made a strong first impression with an aggressive approach at the plate and improvement in his defensive game, already solidifying his value as a player.

"He's a good defender," Staten Island manager Justin Pope said. "He's a lot better defender than what I thought he was going to be." Jagielo first appeared on the draft radar after being picked up by Chicago Cubs in the 50th round of the 2010 MLB Draft.
