Torrens has a 9-game hit streak

STATEN ISLAND, NY - Catcher Luis Torrens has bounced around three different teams this season. He started the season with low-A Charleston where he batted .154 before injuring his shoulder nine games into the season. He was sent down to the Yankees’ Gulf Coast League where he rehabbed for five games, and now he is rehabbing with the Staten Island Yankees, but he says he's not rushing his way back.

Since joining Staten Island, Torrens has been tearing up the hitting in the NY-Penn League. In ten games he has a slash line of .385/.429/.967, and has two doubles and two triples with eight runs scored.
