Bautista Working On His Control

Bautista is focused on throwing more strikes

STATEN ISLAND, NY - Standing at an intimidating 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds, left-handed pitcher Rony Bautista continues to be an imperative part of the Staten Island Yankees success. He worked extensively on his control during his Extended Spring Training season and, despite a strong start in Staten Island, that remains his developmental mantra.

Manager Mario Garza, who coached Bautista the previous two years in the Gulf Coast League, worked with Bautista throughout Extended Spring Training and helped him focus on being more consistent. "You know he's a power arm," Garza said. "He's up to 95-96 and lives in the lower nineties, throwing 92-93.
