Hughes Ready For His Return To The Bronx

Hughes was happy to get into the seventh inning

In what was very likely his final minor league rehab start, Phil Hughes continued to be just as brilliant on the mound as he has been in his previous outings. He tossed another shutout, throwing six and two thirds, giving up three hits, while striking out four. Though he did walk three, there was not much to criticize Hughes on for the night, as the start went as smoothly as it could.

"It [his start] was a step in the right direction," Phil Hughes said afterwards. "I pitched a little better tonight [Sunday] than I did last time out. My velocity was a lot better. I was happy with the effort overall." "I've seen him better, but he was still pretty good," Scranton pitching coach Dave Eiland said. "He went out there and commanded the ball real well.
