Notebook: Running game takes flight

After averaging less than 100 yards per game on the ground last fall, the South Carolina running game netted over 200 yards between both squads in the annual Garnet and Black Spring Game. The spotlights of the day belonged to Kenny Miles and Jarvis Giles who both finished with over 80 yards each on the ground to lead their respective squads.

Many fans wondered how long it would take Jarvis Giles to make an impact on the South Carolina running game. The answer – almost immediately. The true freshman from Tampa rushed 12 times for 113 yards and two fourth quarter touchdowns in the Garnet team's 30-14 win in the Garnet and Black Spring Game on Saturday.
